ORLANDO, Fla. – The Flagler College men's outdoor track and field team competed at the UCF Knights Invite on Friday and Saturday at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.
The Saints had entries in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 110m hurdles, 3000m steeplechase, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. As well as field entries in triple jump and shot put.
A trio of freshman competed in the 100m dash for the Saints with
Ryan Sen finishing in 49th with a time of 11.25.
Sam Adebonojo (11.38) and Sam Hummer (11.66) finished in 56th and 66th, respectively.
The 200m had five entries from the Saints and
Malachi South finished in the top 50 with a time of 22.35 that earned him 43rd place. Sam Hummer finished in 67th with a time of 22.96 and
Malik Edwards followed him in 72nd with a time of 23.20. Darrell Miller II and
Christian McFarlane followed in 80th and 85th, respectively, with times of 23.40 and 23.71.
Three out of the four Saints competing in the 400m finished in the top 50:
Logan Camara (49.83),
Houston Harper (49.86) and
Malachi South (50.04).
Xander Cunningham barely missed the cut in 51st place with a time of 50.92.
Two Saints ran in the 800m with
Logan Burch (1:58.54) and Josh Sea (1:59.70) finishing in 52nd and 64th, respectively.
Bryce Dufrene and
Max Bowlin finished 27th and 39th in the 1500m.
In the 5000m, four Saints ran and finished in the top 50 with Paul Schledbauer leading the Saints in 13th place. Following him was
Adrian Abercrombie (15:52.10) in 21st,
A'Jani Stokes (16:03.54) in 23rd and
Ben Youngs (16:49.32) in 40th.
Caden Vann earned a 10th place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.23.
Sam Adebonojo finished in 19th with a time of 15.68 and behind him was
Kruz Jimenez in 26th with a time of 16.68.
The best finish for Flagler came in the 3000m steeplechase with
Christian Fernandez in fourth place and a time of 9:41.01. The next best was the 4x400 relay (
Logan Camara,
Houston Harper,
Malachi South and
Xander Cunningham) with a ninth-place finish and a time of 3:18.98. The 4x100 relay team of
Ryan Sen,
Caden Vann, Sam Hummer and
Sam Adebonojo finished in 14th with a time of 43.16.
Casey Wood and
Jude Daly placed in 8th and 20th, respectively, in the shot put. Wood finished with a 14.52m mark and Daly with a 11.42m mark.
The Saints split up and head to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic (March 28-30) and to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays on March 28-30.
