ST. AUGUSTINE – Columbus State University scored four runs in the first inning in route to a 19-8 win, in seven innings, over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Columbus State swept the series and improved to 14-9 overall and 4-2 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 8-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Up next for the Saints is a non-conference game on Wednesday at Albany State University.
Colby Brabston had the big hit in the first inning for Columbus State, a two-run double. The Cougars added two more runs in the second, tacked on four more in the fifth, eight in the sixth, and one more in the seventh.
The Saints scored six runs and batted around in the seventh.
Matthew Burke hit a two-run double and
Bryce Fitzgerald added an RBI single later in the frame.
Trace Goforth (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits and fanned five in six innings of work to get the win.
Cody Ferguson paced the 22-hit attack going 4-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored, and four runs batted in. Brabston finished 3-for-5 with the double, three RBI, and he scored two runs. Win Johns went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Kole McGlumphey collected three singles, scored two runs, and knocked in two more.
Huston Wynne (0-2) took the loss for Flagler. He allowed five earned runs on six hits in three innings.

Clay Callan, and
Blake Pesante all saw work in relief.
Taylor Clapp finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Trey Newland went 2-for-4 with a double and he scored two runs. Burke went 2-for-3 with a double and he drove in two runs.
