ST. AUGUSTINE –
Malik Bryant and
Tyler Collier each scored 14 points in the second half to help rally Flagler College to a 78-73 victory over Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 15-10 overall and 8-7 in the Peach Belt. Columbus State fell to 12-12 overall and 6-9 in conference play. Flagler travels to USC Beaufort on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. tip.
The Saints trailed by as many as 10 (42-32) in the second half and used a 16-5 run over 3:29 to take a 48-47 lead after a Bryant basket.
Flagler held a lead until Jarrett Adderton sank a 3-pointer with 5:31 remaining to give the Cougars a 63-62 lead. But on the next trip down the court, Collier found
Jax Bouknight open and he drained a three-pointer to give the Saints the lead back, 65-63, and they never trailed again.
Bryant finished with a team-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting and he added six rebounds. Collier recorded a career-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, and he sank three 3-pointers.
Jalen Barr finished with a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.
Mason Manning dished out a game-high five assists.
Adderton came off the bench to score a game-high 26 points for the Cougars. Caleb Byrd added 13 points while Marquis Davison and Kordell Brown each scored 10 points. Brown grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
