AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Jalen Barr and
Omar Figueroa each scored 18 points in Flagler College's 84-68 loss at Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta won its fifth game in a row and improved to 14-9 overall and 7-6 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 13-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play. Up next for the Saints is Clayton State University on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Morrow, Georgia.
The Jaguars used a 20-3 run over 6:31 of the first half to wipe out a 13-11 Saints lead. Timmy Sellers' layup tied the game at 13 with 14:28 left to go and a basket by David Viti with 7:57 remaining gave Augusta a 31-16 lead.
The Saints ended the first half with baskets by Barr and
Destin Clark and trailed the Jaguars 43-33 at the break.
Flagler closed the gap to eight early in the second half, but couldn't get any closer.
Barr added eight rebounds and four steals to his line.
Spencer Bain tacked on nine points while Clark finished with eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Ja'Queze Kirby recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, both game highs. Demitri Gardner added 20 points while Viti and John St. Germain III each scored 12 points. Sellers had 10 points coming off the bench.
