MELBOURNE, Fla. – Flagler College held an early 2-0 lead only to see Florida Tech rally for a 4-3 win in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
Florida Tech evened its record to 4-4 while Flagler is now 0-8. The Saints host Eckerd College on Friday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
Jesse Sullivan led off the top of the second with a single up the middle and
Payton Palladino belted a double down the left field line to put runners on second and third. A pair of ground outs followed to knock in both runners and give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
A Marshall Burke single in the fourth plated the first run for the Panthers and a ground out tied the game.
Burke's two-run single in fifth gave Florida Tech the lead.
A pinch hit single in the eighth by
Kevin RisCassi drove in a run but the Saints could not score the equalizer.
Tyler Vermillion (1-0) earned the win in relief after tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. He fanned two. Ethan Stephens worked a scoreless ninth as he allowed on hit with two strikeouts to pick up his second save.
Evan Wood (0-2) took the loss in relief for the Saints. He surrendered one earned run on three hits.
Benjamin Stubbs started and struck out five batters in four innings.
Justin Haskins and
Blake Pesante worked in relief.
Gabe Garrett collected a pair of singles for Florida Tech.
Mason Gray and Sullivan both finished with two singles and scored one run.
