DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Jax Bouknight finished with a team-high 22 points, six assists, and five rebounds and helped Flagler College rally in the second half but fell short in a 95-89 loss to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday night at the ICI Center.
Flagler suffered its first loss of the season and is now 3-1. Embry-Riddle improved to 2-1. Up next for the Saints is a home date on Nov. 20 against Lynn University at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
Jaylen Jordon recorded his fourth double-double in as many games with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He had 16 points and six rebounds in the second half alone.
Hoku Fisher added 15 points and four rebounds while
Josiah Shackelford came off the bench to score 11 points.
Dru Nickson led five Eagles in double-figures with 22 points and he dished out seven assists. Yassin Hussein added 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, and blocked three shots. Michael McCalister and Milan Skoric chipped in with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Jared Berry came off the bench to provide 13 points and six rebounds.
A McCalister three-pointer early in the first half wiped out a one-point deficit (6-5) and sparked a 14-3 run by Embry-Riddle over the next 5:40. The Eagles took a 48-36 lead into the half.
The Saints trailed by as many as 13 in the second half, but continually chipped away, but could not get any closer than four points. Bouknight hit a 3-pointer with 10 second left to go to get Flagler to within four (93-89), but Nickson sank both free throws with four seconds left. Embry-Riddle made 13-of-14 from the charity stripe in the game.
