ST. AUGUSTINE –
Destin Clark scored a season-high 26 points and he added six rebounds to help lead Flagler College to a 75-62 victory over Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gym.
Flagler improved to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in the Peach Belt. Augusta dropped to 8-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Saints host Clayton State University on Saturday (Jan. 20) at 3:30 p.m.
An 8-0 spurt by the Saints midway through the first half eliminated an 11-10 Jaguar advantage and Flagler did not relinquish the lead. An old-fashioned three-point play by
Kyle Young (a basket and a free throw) started the run with 13:44 left and gave the Saints a 13-11 lead. Flagler's lead would grow to as many as 19 before settling on a 45-27 lead at the half.
The Saints maintained a double-digit lead for the entirety of the second half.
Clark made 9-of-14 from the field and sank 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
Jax Bouknight added 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and he finished with five assists. Young tallied nine points while
Jalen Barr ended with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Flagler shot a blistering 59.4 percent (19-32) from the field in the first half.
Demitri Gardner led the Jaguars with 16 points. Ja'Queze Kirby added 10 points and five rebounds while Max Amadasun grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
