ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored six unanswered runs to rally past Edward Waters University 6-1 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Drysdale Field.
Flagler improved to 14-27 overall while Edward Waters dropped to 17-19.
After the Tigers scored a run in the top of the first,
Taylor Clapp's RBI single in the home half of the inning tied the game.
Trey Newland hit a two-run single to center in the second inning to give the Saints a 3-1 lead.
Jonny Crowel hit a two-run single to left-center in the third to bump the lead to 5-1 and Flagler scored a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly.
Benjamin Stubbs (1-0) earned his first collegiate win as he tossed two scoreless innings in relief and fanned two batters while allowing only one hit. He was one of seven different pitchers used.
Newland had two of the Saints' nine hits, both singles, and he scored a run while driving in two more.
Zach Thomas hit a double and scored a run.
Simms Owens stole a pair of bases.
Will Valenti (4-3) took the loss in relief for the Tigers. He allowed four runs on five hits in two innings of work. Edward Waters used seven different pitchers too.
Leonel Garcia and Caden Hutchinson each collected two singles.
Flagler steps back into Peach Belt Conference play with a three-game weekend series against Claflin University at Drysdale Field. The series starts on Friday at 6 p.m.
