DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Flagler College scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, but the University of North Georgia was able to get the game-ending hit in the home half of the inning to win 7-6 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.
North Georgia improved to 23-16 overall and 13-11 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 11-25 overall and 7-14 in conference play.
With one out in the top of the ninth,
Jaiden Warde reached on a fielding error by the Nighthawks third baseman. The next two batters drew walks and
Tim Kudlinski was hit by a pitch to push across the first run of the frame. Pinch hitter
Justin Haskins flew out to left field to score
Taylor Clapp to tie the game at 6-all.
Brady Skipper led off the bottom of the ninth with a triple to center field. Riley Frost followed by hitting a single to right field to end the game.
Jack Emacio (2-1) retired the last two batters to earn the win in relief for North Georgia.
Gabriel Partridge (0-6) was responsible for the runner who scored in the ninth and took the loss in relief. He tossed one inning.
Warde led the Saints with three singles, one run batted in, and he scored two runs.
Trey Newland collected two singles, scored a run, and drove in another.
Andrews Opata went 3-for-4 with a double, scored a run, and knocked in another for North Georgia. Skipper went 2-for-3 with a triple, and he scored three runs. Edwin Bowman IV finished with two singles, and he scored a run.
Flagler heads to Daytona Beach, Florida to face Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
