DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University scored single tallies in an inning four times to defeat Flagler College 4-0 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Sliwa Stadium
Embry-Riddle improved to 18-17 overall while Flagler is now 11-26.
With two outs in the bottom of the second, Dylan Brazil hit a single back to the pitcher and then stole second base. The next batter, Matthew Coker, reached on a throwing error by the Saints shortstop, and then Brazil tried to score from second base and did so on an errant throw by the Flagler first baseman.
The Eagles scored single runs in the third, seventh, and eighth innings.
Flagler's best chance to score a run came in the third inning when it had the bases loaded with two outs, but
Jaiden Warde grounded out to the third baseman who threw to second base for the force out.
Tyler Stufano (5-4) tossed 4.1 innings in relief as he scattered two hits and struck out a batter. Joe Balsam finished the game to record his fifth save of the year. He tossed 1.1 innings and allowed one hit with three strikeouts.
Camden Traficante went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and one run batted in.
Jake Janata (0-1) took the loss for the Saints. He allowed one earned run on four hits in three innings of work. Drew Rosenburg,
Brad Vondruska,
Anthony Nofi, and
Benjamin Stubbs all saw time on the mound tonight.
Justin Haskins collected two singles.
Tim Kudlinski and
Zach Thomas each hit a single while
Bryce Fitzgerald hit a double.
Flagler steps back into Peach Belt Conference play this weekend as Lander University comes down for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
