Saints and Jaguars split a doubleheader

Warde knocks in a career high six runs

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College scored 15 runs in four innings and pounded out 14 hits to earn a split of the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with a 15-5 win over Augusta University Friday afternoon at Jaguar Field. Augusta won the opener, 6-2.

Flagler is now 7-21 overall and 3-11 in the Peach Belt. Augusta is 13-14 overall and 7-10 in conference play.

In the second game, Jaiden Warde led the Saints as he went 5-for-5 with three doubles, three runs scored and six runs batted in. The last time a Flagler player had three doubles in a game was March 14, 2017, when Lorenzo Butler had three against West Chester University. Warde hit a bases clearing double in the fourth inning.

Justin Haskins went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, and he scored a run. Taylor Clapp went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and he knocked in a run.

The Saints did all their damage in the first four innings. Flagler sent nine men to the plate in first inning and scored three runs on three hits. In the second, the Saints sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on four hits.

Dylan Faulkner (2-3) tossed five innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits. Huston Wynne finished the game.

J. Ben Haynes went 2-for-3 with a triple for Augusta.

JR Fordham (2-3) received the lost after he allowed four runs on three hits in one inning pitched.

In the opener, the Jaguars scored three runs in the third inning in route to a 6-2 win. Jordan Wilkie hit a two-run single to center to give the Jaguars a 3-0 lead.

The Saints scored an unearned run in the fifth and Clapp's solo home run in the seventh capped the scoring for Flagler.

Kyle Lodise collected three singles and scored two runs for Augusta.

Mason Bernard (4-2) allowed one run on four hits in seven innings of work to get the win.

Tim Kudlinski finished with two singles and Clapp scored both runs.

Gage Voorhees (0-2) surrendered six runs on nine hits in six innings pitched. He fanned seven batters.

The same two teams meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the rubber game of the series, weather permitting.
