MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech used a six-run ninth inning to defeat Flagler College 11-8 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
Florida Tech improved to 5-3 while Flagler is now 0-7.
The Saints broke up a 5-all tie in the seventh inning when
Jaiden Warde hit a leadoff home run over the left field wall.
Griffin Garcia hit a run-scoring double and
Mason Gray drove him home with a base hit.
Trailing 8-6 in the bottom of the ninth, Brett Parrish hit a two-run double to left field to tie the game. After an intentional walk put runners at first and second with one out, the next batter fouled out to third base. Roman Samson followed by belting a home run over the wall in left field to end the game.
Ethan Stephens (1-1) closed the game for the Panthers as he tossed a scoreless ninth with one strikeout.
Alec Eldridge led the 13-hit attack by Florida Tech as he hit three singles and drove in two runs. Jason Blackstone went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Andrew Bourque finished with a pair of doubles and scored a run.
Justin Haskins (0-2) was on the mound for the Saints in the ninth. He allowed six runs on three hits. Haskins walked two and he hit a batter.
Dylan Faulkner started and tossed two innings as he allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts. The Saints used eight different pitchers.
Warde went 3-for-5 with a double and the home run. He scored two runs and drove in another.
Ashton Thomas collected a pair of singles and drove in two runs.
Matthew Burke and Gray each finished with two singles. Gray had two RBI and Burke scored a run.
Flagler opens Peach Belt Conference play this weekend at No. 4 (Collegiate Baseball Division II Preseason Top 40) Columbus State University. The series starts at 5 p.m. on Friday at Burger King Stadium at Ragsdale Field.
