WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Flagler College men's indoor track and field team opened up its season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off meet Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.
A pair of Flagler runners,
John Carbone and
Kaleb Hollins, finished first and second in the 800-meter run. Carbone topped the field with a time of 1:59.71 and Hollins followed at 1:59.73. Carbone's time tops the region ranking while Hollins follows. Josh Sea finished in 10
th place with a time of 2:03.26, which ranks fifth in the region.
Will Stone finished in third place in the mile run, sandwiched by five runners from Wake Forest University. Stone posted a time of 4:15.00 and that ranks third in the region as well as eighth nationally (4:11.9 converted). He just missed hitting the provisional mark.
Max Bowlin (4:33.31) and
Logan Burch (4:35.84) are ranked sixth and seventh in the region.
Joel Nesi finished in second place in the 3000-meter run. He crossed the finish line at 8:33.75, just under one second behind the winner. Nesi's time is fifth in the region.
Caden Vann debuted in the 60-meter hurdles and finished in seventh place with a time of 8.45. He sits in fourth place with that time in the region.
Sam Adebonojo is 10
th in the region with a time of 8.68.
The 4x400 relay team of Stone, Carbone, Sea, and Hollins finished in fourth place with a time of 3:30.14. That is the third-fastest time in the region.
"I am happy with what we were able to get done this weekend," said head coach
Brian Beil. "Those who did not achieve the marks they hoped for will certainly be heading into the holiday vacation properly motivated to get in some training."
Up next for the Saints is the RADD Sports Invitational, Jan. 19-20, at the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe.
