Clark’s double-double helps Saints chop down the Mighty Banyans

ST. AUGUSTINE – Destin Clark recorded his second consecutive double-double with 23 points and a season-best 18 rebounds as Flagler College rolled to a 96-58 win over the New College of Florida in a non-conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler won its third-straight game to improve to 4-3 overall. New College of Florida, a first-year program located in Sarasota, Florida, fell to 1-8. The Saints take a break for final exams and return to the court on Dec. 12 at Spring Hill College at 7:30 p.m. Central.

The Saints led for nearly the entirety of the game, but used a 16-2 spurt in the last five minutes of the first half to take a commanding 47-27 lead at the break. Clark had 15 points and 12 rebounds at the half.

The point margin was never less than 20 in the second half.

Clark made 10-of-16 from the field and he added three assists. Jalen Barr finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Omar Figueroa tacked on 12 points and Jax Bouknight tallied 11 points and dished out six assists. Eleven-of-the-12 Flagler players scored at least two points.

Flagler shot a season-high 55.7 percent (39-70) and the 52 rebounds was a season-best. The Saints also had 10 steals.

Jack Scott led the Mighty Banyans with 18 points. Jordan Clark added eight points and 10 rebounds. Zach Close dished out four assists.
