Five players score in double-figures in Flagler’s win at Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – Omar Figueroa scored a team-high 18 points and was one of five Flagler College players to score in double-figures in an 85-75 win over the University of Tampa in a non-conference men's basketball game Sunday evening at the Tampa Classic, which was played at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.

Flagler won its sixth game in a row and improved to 7-3 overall. Tampa dropped to 5-6. The Saints open the Peach Belt Conference season on Jan. 3 at Georgia Southwestern State University.

The Saints used an 11-2 spurt midway through the first half to take a 22-9 lead. Jax Bouknight's three-pointer capped the run with 10:49 left in the first half. Flagler would take a 44-28 lead into the half.

A jumper by Figueroa gave the Saints their largest lead, 48-28, with 18:21 left in the game. Flagler maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Malik Bryant added 16 points for the Saints. Destin Clark and Bouknight each tacked on 14 points. Bouknight tallied five assists. Kyle Young chipped in with 10 points. Jalen Barr grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

Flagler out-rebounded Tampa 48-26. The Saints have out-rebounded their opponent in each of the last six games.

De'Andre Harvey came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points for the Spartans. Bryan Williams added 19 while Jaxon Toney finished with 14 points.
