ST. AUGUSTINE –
Sharale McCormick scored a game-high 23 points in Flagler College's 68-54 loss to Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
Clayton State evened its record at 9-9 overall and went to 4-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 4-15 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
The Lakers held a 33-31 lead at the half and then a pair of Devyne Turner three-pointers midway through the third quarter sparked an 11-0 run, which eventually gave Clayton State a 51-38 lead.
Flagler could only get as close as eight points in the rest of the contest.
Audrey McElhaney and Turner each scored 11 points for the Lakers. Diamond Swift added nine points and nine rebounds and Jada Moss grabbed eight boards.
N'Mya Pierce tallied seven points to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds for the Saints.
Taylor Gardner finished with six points, six rebounds and four assists.
Up next for Flagler is a road trip to Greenwood, South Carolina to face Lander University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
