AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College senior guard
Jessica Dowdy was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending March 1, announced Monday afternoon by conference officials.
She was the third Flagler women's basketball player to earn the weekly award (
Marley Smith, Nov. 25 and
Natalie Herrin, Dec. 22).
The Augusta, Georgia native averaged a team high 23.5 points per game. She made 15-of-19 from the free throw line and had five assists to go along with four steals. Dowdy scored a career high 27 points, 18 of which came in the second half, in a 70-63 win over Clayton State University last Wednesday. She made 8-of-17 from the field and sank 7-of-9 free throw attempts. Dowdy scored a team high 20 points in a 71-63 loss to Georgia College & State University last Saturday.
