ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College ran into Georgia Southwestern State University's ace, Jared Donalson, who would toss a complete game shutout to win a pitchers' duel, 1-0, Thursday night at Drysdale Field.
Georgia Southwestern improved to 16-21 overall and 11-8 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 18-22 overall and 11-8 in conference play.
Donalson (7-3) scattered six hits and struck out 10 batters. He faced four over the minimum going into the ninth inning. Donalson got out of a bases loaded jam with two outs by striking out the last batter.
The only run of the game came in the third. Miles Hartsfield led off with a single and Tyler Skelton followed with a single off the second base bag. A balk moved the runners up a base. Anthony Angelino's line drive to left field was enough to score Hartsfield from third. Hartsfield had two singles for the Hurricanes.
Seth Wysocki (3-4) was the hard-luck loser on the mound. He allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. Wysocki induced 13 fly outs and six more ground outs.
Dylan Faulkner tossed two scoreless innings in relief.
John Fiorenza and
Matthew Burke each collected two singles.
The same two teams meet tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
