Ari Bosch gets another hit versus PBA

Game Recap: Softball |

Saints' 26 hits overpower Sailfish in Wednesday sweep

ST. AUGUSTINE — Flagler scattered 26 hits as Ari Bosch homered twice, including a walk-off home run in game one, to propel the Saints past Palm Beach Atlantic University in a non-conference doubleheader, 4-3 and 7-3, Wednesday at Flagler Field.

The sweep improved the Saints to 18-14 overall, while PBA dropped to 10-18. Flagler will be back in action this weekend when the Saints travel to Young Harris College for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series, beginning Friday at 4 p.m.

GAME ONE

Bosch has become accustomed to winning games for the Saints and it was no different Wednesday. After knocking the 13th-inning, walk-off home run against Lander Sunday, Bosch was at it again and made sure her team didn't play another frame. With the first pitch of the seventh inning, the freshman second baseman blasted her solo shot over the left field wall to solidify the game one victory and her third walk-off of the season via the long ball.

Bosch was 3-for-4 at the plate and joined Kyleigh Taylor as Saints with solo home runs as Taylor's matched the Sailfish's second-inning run in the bottom half. Trinity Fry's lone hit gave Flagler the lead in the second, scoring Olivia Parker as the freshman Parker was responsible for the game-tying run in the fifth after PBA scored a pair to hand the visiting team the third-inning lead.

Parker was perfect from the plate, knocking across three hits including a pair of doubles, and scoring Madelyn Childs to knot the score at 3-all in the fifth. Rachel Hester (W, 8-6) relieved Taylor Scott in the circle in the third inning with the bases loaded and zero outs. The freshman got the Saints out of the jam and shut the Sailfish down the rest of the way as she allowed just two hits and struck out three.

Paige Maseda, Childs and Lucy Giebeig also contributed hits, while Taylor had two (double, homer) in the Saints' 12-hit day that Bosch topped off with her back-to-back, game-winning homer.

GAME TWO

After PBA used a home run in the first inning to go ahead, Alyssa Velez used an RBI-single to score Maseda and jumpstart the offense. Flagler added an insurance run in the second thanks to a ground-rule double from Maseda — her second multi-base hit in as many at-bats — to bring Parker around to score. The Sailfish knotted the game in the top of the sixth, but it didn't take the Saints long to jump back ahead.

Flagler pieced together a five-run frame that featured a two-out rally with hits from Courtney Robinson, Maseda, Childs and none other than Bosch, who smacked yet another home run with this one going over the right-center fence. Bosch, Parker and Fry all had two hits apiece as Maseda led the pack with a trio and Childs, Velez, Taylor, Mercedes Salinas and Robinson chimed in with a hit in the 14-hit affair.

In the circle, Madelyn Wise (W, 6-5) held the Sailfish to three runs on 10 hits as she tossed four scoreless frames while striking out four over seven innings.
