DAHLONEGA, Ga.— Flagler College was swept in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against No. 8 (NFCA Division II Top 25) University of North Georgia at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium Friday afternoon. They lost 4-0 in the opener and 10-1 in the second game.
Flagler is now 10-31 overall and 6-14 in the Peach Belt. North Georgia is 35-8 overall and 15-5 in conference play. The Saints will conclude the series against the Nighthawks tomorrow at 1 p.m.
In game one, the Nighthawks scored two runs in the second, one in the fourth, and one in the fifth.
Stephanie Daly had a pair of singles for the Saints.
Hannah Smith had one single.
Ava Matthews (3-7) got the loss for the Saints. She allowed four runs on four hits in five innings.
Alyssa Hunter pitched the remainder of the game.
Chloe Poss (19-5) threw a complete game three-hit shutout. She finished with six strikeouts.
Morgan Martin hit a solo home run and scored twice. Carleigh Knowles went 1-for-3 with one run batted in. Kayla Berry had a single and scored a run.
In game two, the Saints got ahead in the first with a single through the left side by
Kiley McQuillan to score
Emily Ricci.
The Nighthawks offense scored five runs in the second and five in the fourth.
Lila Mullinax (8-1) scattered seven hits and struck out three.
Sydnee Reaves went 2-for-3 with a home run, scored twice and drove in three. Knowles collected two singles and scored one run. Berry went 2-for-3 with a single and double, a run scored, and one run batted in.
Jordan Sheets (2-10) got the loss for the Saints. She allowed five runs on five hits in 1.1 innings.
Alyssa Hunter pitched 2.2 innings and allowed five runs, which two were earned, on six hits.
Ricci went 2-for-3 with one run scored and two singles. McQuillan had a single and batted one in.
