ST. AUGUSTINE –
Luke Welborn went 2-for-4 with a double and one run batted in, but Flagler College fell short against Rollins College 5-1 in a non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Rollins extended its winning streak to eight games and improved to 9-2 overall. Flagler moved its mark to 5-8.
Nick Santucci got the Tars' offense going early when he belted a three-run home run over the right field wall in the first inning.
An RBI-single in the sixth by Parker Smith to go along with a sacrifice fly by Cameron Meehan in the same inning provided the insurance.
Welborn drove in the Saints' lone run with his double in the first that scored
Ashton Thomas.
Justin Alintoff (3-0) scattered five hits and allowed one run in seven innings. He fanned four and induced eight fly outs as well as nine ground outs. Alintoff retired 12 batters in a row during his outing.
Santucci paced the 11-hit attack as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, the home run, three RBI, and he scored two runs. Chase Achuff hit a single and a double. Adams Torres and Jeslyn Whitehead each collected two singles.
Seth Wysocki (1-2) allowed five runs on nine hits in six innings of work.
Ryan Ayrey and
Gavin Barnell tossed three scoreless innings in relief.
Thomas,
Coy Phillips, and
Jaiden Warde each had a single.
Flagler hosts Assumption University on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
