ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. –
Gage Voorhees (1-0) struck out a career-high 10 batters as Flagler College shut out Eckerd College 3-0 in a non-conference baseball game Friday night at the Turley Complex.
Flagler improved to 3-5 on the season. Eckerd fell to 4-4.
Voorhees retired the first five batters he faced and only allowed six base runners in eight innings of work. He scattered four hits and tossed 119 pitches, 75 for strikes.
Anthony Nofi preserved the shutout to earn the save. He faced just four batters in the ninth and allowed one hit.
Donovan Garcia's RBI single in the third inning gave the Saints the lead and
Myles Colangelo followed with a sacrifice fly to right and Flagler grabbed a 2-0 lead.

Mason Gray.
Ashton Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double while Gray collected a pair of singles and scored two runs.
Jacob Stipp (1-2) allowed three runs on eight hits in eight innings to take the loss for the Tritons. He struck out eight batters.
Five different Eckerd players had a hit.
The two teams meet tomorrow in a doubleheader at noon.
