ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Flagler College softball team, led by head coach,
Kathryn Grant, released their 2023 schedule on Friday Afternoon.
The Saints are set for a 53-game season, 24 of them will be played at Flagler Field.
"We are very excited for this season," Grant said. "We have a great mix of newcomers and returners this year and they have been working extremely hard this off season. We are all counting down the days until they get to be on the game field competing."
The Saints open their season in the ancient city on Friday, Feb. 3 against Erskine College in the Flagler Invitational annual tournament (Feb. 3-4). The tournament will host three other schools: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Georgia Southwestern State University, and Limestone University.
The following weekend, Flagler will host the Old Coast Classic tournament on Friday, Feb.10-12. The three-day tournament will host Emory & Henry College, the University of West Alabama, Eckerd College and Saint Leo University. The Saints will kick-off the tournament against Emory & Henry.
After a doubleheader against Barry University (Feb.15) at home, Flagler will travel to play a twin bill against both University of West Florida (Feb. 18) and Valdosta State University (Feb.21). Valdosta was ranked 12
th in the final 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II coaches poll.
Flagler will start conference play on Saturday, Feb.25 against Georgia College and State University in a three-game series. From there, the team will travel to play Savannah State University in a non-conference game on Feb. 28.
The Saints resume conference play on the road against Young Harris College in a three-game series on March 4.
After a non-conference doubleheader at home against Lees-McRae College (March 8), Flagler will host Georgia Southwestern in a three-game series (March 11-12).
A visit to Nova Southeastern University on March 15 precedes a three-game series at home against the University of South Carolina Beaufort on March 18-19. Later that week, the Saints will host a single game against Rollins on March 21.
Flagler closes the month with conference play in a three-game series in Dahlonega, Georgia against North Georgia State University on March 25-26. North Georgia was ranked fifth in the final 2022 NFCA Division II coaches poll.
The Saints start the month of April with a three-game series at Columbus State University (April 1-2), followed by a twin bill against Saint Leo at home (April 5). Flagler will host Lander for conference play in a three-game series (April 7-8).
A home doubleheader on April 11 against Florida Southern precedes a conference three-game series at USC Aiken on April 15-16.
The Saints regular season concludes with a doubleheader at Florida Tech (April 19) and a three-game conference series against Augusta (April 22-23).
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament will be held April 28-30 at the number one or two seeded team's home field. The PBC Tournament Championship Series will be held on May 5-6 at the highest seeded team's home field. The tournament is single elimination and will give the winner an automatic berth to the regional tournament.
The regional tournament will be held on May 11-13.
