AIKEN, S.C. –
Jordan Berglin recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 13 kills and 15 digs as Flagler College defeated USC Aiken 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Flagler improved to 11-7 overall and 6-4 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken fell to 13-10 overall and 4-8 in conference play. Flagler heads north on Saturday (Oct. 22) to take on Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida at 3 p.m.
Molly Boyd added 12 kills and four total blocks. She hit .400 as she only had two errors on 25 swings.
Kennedy Muff tallied 30 assists, had nine digs and five kills.
Edie Lamoreaux finished with 29 digs, one shy of her career high.
Annie Bart added seven kills while
Audrey Simmons contributed six kills, five digs and four total blocks.
Arianna Lopez recorded a team-high five total blocks.
Sadie McKay had a double-double for the Pacers with 11 kills and 14 digs. Anna Sommer added 11 more kills while Abbey Schad tacked on 10 more. Caroline Foster tallied 30 assists and Kari Mercer collected 28 digs.
Flagler used a 10-2 run in the first set to grab an 18-9 lead after a Berglin spike. Lamoreaux had six digs.
USC Aiken opened the second set on a 10-2 run, but Flagler rallied to knot the score at 12-all after a service ace from
Kennedy Muff. The Pacers answered with three consecutive points and never trailed again.
The Saints began the third set on a 5-1 spurt and never relinquished the lead. Boyd had five kills and hit .571 in the set. Muff tallied 10 assists.
Flagler trailed 7-2 early in the fourth set and trailed by as many as seven (15-8). A double-block by Berglin and Lopez tied the set at 18 and Berglin added two more kills to give the Saints the lead for good. Berglin had five kills in that set.
