KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Flagler College men's basketball team will open the 2022-23 campaign at the Small College Basketball Tip-Off Classic. The two-day event will take place Nov. 5-6 at the George Jenkins Fieldhouse in Lakeland, Florida.

"We are truly honored and excited to be invited to this prestigious NCAA Division II event," said head coach Chad Warner. "What John McCarthy and Small College Basketball have done for our sport cannot be put into words. This is a great event for our program and a great compliment to Flagler College."

The field features 10 teams, eight of which are currently ranked in the NABC Division II Top 25 preseason poll. No. 1 Northwest Missouri State University, No. 2 Flagler, No. 7 Hillsdale College, No. 10 Valdosta State University, No. 13 Nova Southeastern University, No. 16 Queens University of Charlotte, No. 20 The University of Alabama in Huntsville, and No. 23 Florida Southern College are part of the field along with Dallas Baptist University and Minnesota State University Moorhead.

"We are thrilled to bring the Small College Basketball Tip-Off Classic to Lakeland," stated McCarthy. "With the tremendous support from Florida Southern College and the Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing, this will continue to be the most prestigious in-season event within NCAA Division II basketball. Together, we'll create a special experience for the student athletes, coaches and fans, right in the heart of the Sunshine State.  I'd also like to extend my gratitude to the NCAA D2 Conference Commissioners Association for their continued support of our event, as they've continued to extend the exemption for our event."
