Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 50 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Francis Marion University used a doubles sweep to key a 5-4 win over No. 14 Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match at the Flagler Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

Francis Marion improved to 12-6 overall and 3-4 in the Peach Belt. The Patriots have now won seven-of-its-last-eight matches. Flagler dropped to 9-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play. There is a three-way tie for sixth place in the PBC.

The Patriots opened the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Richard Ashforth and Philipp Sluga knocked off the nation's No. 5-ranked tandem of Kevin Gonzalez and Lukas Storck, 9-7.

Flagler was able to rally in singles play and tie the match at 3-all with wins at Nos. 1-3. Gonzalez, ranked No. 26, beat Ashforth, ranked No. 23, in straight sets (6-2 and 6-3). After Storck won his match in straight sets, Hermann Gertmann, ranked No. 34, took care of Robin Hoek in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-2). But wins at Nos. 5 and 6 clinched the match for the Patriots.

Flagler wraps up its home schedule on Wednesday (April 13) against No. 3 Armstrong State University at the Flagler Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
