ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 3 (ITA Division II Top 50)Â Flagler College men's tennis team defeated No. 26 Lincoln Memorial University 4-0 this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Flagler's unbeaten home record stays intact as they move to 11-0, 13-2 overall. Lincoln Memorial fell to 12-6. The Saints will be on the road for the next three matches, starting against Augusta University on April 10 at 11 a.m.
The Saints and Railsplitters exchanged doubles win as
Noah Paterson and
Aly El Rafie put the Saints up.
Aniss Rafiq and
Simon Malis defeated Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Boneta and Hugo Ruiz Espejo 6-4 to give the Saints their first win. Their final came on court one, 7-5, against Mathis Amsellem and Alexandru Rares Giurea.
The Saints played to clinch, only needing three wins in singles. No. 38 El Rafie swept his opponent, Aranzeta Boneta in both sets, 6-0. Finishing close behind was
Filip Kana who defeated Victor Boutguignon 6-2 and 6-1. The final win came from No. 18 Malis over Florea, 6-3 and 6-1.
