No. 3 Saints stay undefeated in conference play

AUGUSTA, Ga. - A sweep in singles play pushed the No. 3 Flagler College men's tennis team over No. 33 Augustua University in their 6-1 win this morning at the Newman Tennis Center.

Earning their third conference and tenth ranked win of the season, the Saints advanced to a 14-2, 3-0 record while the Jaguars fall to 7-10. The Saints will stay on the road next week to face Georgia College & State University on Friday, Apr. 10 at 2 p.m.

Court No. 1's Aly El Rafie and Noah Paterson continue to shine as they took their third win in four matches. The duo were the lone winners of the Saints as they defeated Humberto Pinto and Alejandro Carbonell 6-2.

A full sweep in singles started with El Rafie. Defeating Pinto again, the No. 38 ranked senior won 6-4 and 6-0 to give the Saints their first point. No. 16 Simon Malis defeated Arthur Valette 6-3 and 7-5 to start the lead. On court one, No. 31 Aniss Rafiq bounced back from last week, defeating Alexis Bailhache 7-6(7-4) and 6-2. To put the match away, Filip Kana defeated Enzo Sakiyama 7-6(7-5) and 6-2. No. 11 Ilian Borlee remains the undefeated in his 14 matches he's completed after defeating David Perret 7-5 and 6-4. The final win came from No. 41 Raphael Rousson against Alejandro Carbonell, 6-3, 1-6 and 6-3.
