AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State University snapped a five-game losing streak and swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from Flagler College, 2-1 and 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Jaguar Field.

Augusta State improved to 30-12 overall and 11-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler wrapped up its regular season with a 34-16 overall record and an 11-9 mark in conference play.

In the opener, the Saints got on the board first when Lauren Bessent singled home Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) who led off the fourth inning by reaching on a three-base error by Augusta State left fielder Molly Walton.

The Jaguars answered in the bottom half of the inning when Jessica Thornton belted a home run to left-center.

Emily Headrick (15-4) tossed a complete game three-hitter. She allowed an unearned run and struck out five batters.

Macy Terry and Renae Kimbell each hit a double for the Jaguars.

Donna Munafo (Satellite Beach, Fla., Brevard CC) (16-4) tossed five innings and allowed four hits and two runs. She struck out five before giving way to Katie Enright (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills HS) in the sixth.

Robyn Draper (Brampton, Ontario, State College of Florida) singled and doubled for the Saints.

In the second game, Heather Hughes (10-6) tossed a complete game five-hit shutout. She retired nine batters on fly outs and another 11 on ground outs.

The Jaguars scored all the runs they would need in the second inning. Terry hit an RBI double. She later moved to third on a single and scored on a double steal.

Augusta State added another run in the third when Terry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Saints committed three errors which led to two unearned runs.

Kalyn Loverich (St. Johns, Fla., Bartram Trail HS) (10-8) started and lasted three innings. She allowed two hits and one earned run. Enright closed the game and pitched three scoreless innings and only allowed one hit.

Personius singled and doubled for Flagler.

Flagler will now wait and see where it will be seeded in next weekend's single-elimination Peach Belt Conference Tournament at Columbus, Ga.
