MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Jared Holmes led six players in double figures with 15 points to help lead Georgia College to an 83-65 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Monday night at the Centennial Center.
Georgia College improved to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 9-5 and 3-3 in conference play.
Holmes scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half. Ryan Aquino and Josh Hurst each record double-doubles. Aquino tallied 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Hurst added 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Ryan Legates chipped in with 13 points while Reece Wiedeman came off the bench to add 11 points. Mike Augustine supplied 10 points as a reserve for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats shot 50.8% (31-61) from the field and out-rebounded the Saints 42-30.
Eddie Fowler (Deltona, Fla., Pasco-Hernando CC) led Flagler with 17 points, 13 of which came in the second half.
John Pietkiewicz (Winter Park, Fla., New Hampton Prep (N.H.)) added 16 points while
D.J. Ferguson (Orlando, Fla., Bishop Moore Catholic HS) chipped in with 14 points and six assists.
Kenny Moore grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
The Saints collected a season-low 30 rebounds.
Flagler held an early 13-12 lead, but Georgia College scored the next eight points to grab a 20-13 lead, one they would not relinquish. The Saints were able to tie the score twice in the first half, but another run by the Bobcats, this one 10-0, closed the first half and gave Georgia College a 42-32 lead.
A 5-foot jumper by Pietkiewicz opened the scoring in the second half, but t would be the last time the deficit was less than 10 points.
Flagler hosts division foe Francis Marion University on Saturday (Jan. 22) at 3:30 p.m.
