ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College rolled to an 8-1 win in the opener, but Francis Marion University held on for an 8-7 win in the second game as the team split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Saints Field.

Flagler is now 22-18 overall and 6-6 in the Peach Belt while Francis Marion's overall record stands at 27-10 and is 12-6 in league play.

In the first game, Flagler scored all the runs it would need in the first inning. With two outs and runners on the corners, Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS) lofted a fly ball to right field where Chelle Phillips dropped the ball which let both runners score.

The Saints added another in the third and then put up three runs in the fourth, two coming off Brittney Hatem's (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan) base hit.

Jolley hit a two-run double in the sixth.

Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) (14-9) tossed six innings and allowed just four hits, one run and struck out six.

Hatem led Flagler's 10-hit attack with three singles and two runs batted in. Kaley King (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy) singled twice and scored a run.

Michaela Wolf (15-5) went the distance and surrendered 10 hits, six earned runs and struck out seven.

Kat Beauvais singled and doubled for the Patriots.

In the second game, Flagler took an early 2-1 lead, but Francis Marion tallied five runs in the fourth inning to take control.

Ashley Jaramillo supplied the big hit in the fourth with a three-run home run which gave the Patriots a 6-2 lead.

The Saints added two in the bottom of the fourth, but the Patriots added two more in the top of the seventh to take an 8-4 lead.

Francis Marion would need all of those runs as Jolley hit a two-run single and then Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla./Seminole HS) followed with a run scoring single to cut the FMU lead to 8-7, all with two outs. But the Saints couldn't get any closer.

Cea Knox (12-4) pitched a complete game and allowed eight hits and six earned runs.

Jaramillo went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Jessica Birchmeier singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs while Wolf singled twice.

Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) (6-5) tossed four innings and surrendered nine hits and five earned runs.

Hatem went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Heather Hill (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) singled and doubled while Jolley singled twice for the Saints.

Flagler hosts Lees-McRae College tomorrow (Mar. 29) at 4 p.m. at Saints Field.
