AMERICUS, Ga. − Flagler College won two of its three games on Saturday and finished in a three-way tie for the best record (4-1) at the Georgia Southwestern State University Invitational along with Anderson University and Armstrong Atlantic State University. Flagler comes away with a 6-1 record.
The Saints opened the day with a 4-0 win over Armstrong Atlantic.
Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) (3-0) tossed a one-hit shutout and fanned five for the Saints.
Brittney Hatem (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan) blasted a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Flagler followed with a tough 12-7 loss to Anderson.
Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla./Seminole HS) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and another driven in. Boatner and
Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla./Chattanooga State Tech CC) each drove in two runs.
The Saints squeaked by Wesleyan (Ga.) 3-2 in game shortened to six innings dues to darkness and cold weather.
Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) earned the victory in the circle for Flagler.
Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) went 2-for-3 with a run batted in. Boatner also tallied two hits.
Flagler returns to action on Feb. 11 when the team travels to Winter Park to take on Rollins College at 5 p.m.
