ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Georgia Southwestern State University got a pair of outstanding complete game performances from its pitchers this afternoon. Brian Gartley tossed a complete game five-hitter and surrendered an unearned run in the team's first win of the day 3-1 and Jay Perdue tossed a complete game three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Flagler to complete the sweep Saturday afternoon at Flagler Stadium.
In the opener, Gartley (2-0) tossed 97 pitches and induced 11 ground ball outs to earn the victory. The lone run he surrendered in the seventh was when Flagler's
Ben Floyd (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Brevard CC) lined out to the shortstop with runner at first and second with one out, and Jake Mobley tried to double off
Kris King (Youngstown, Ohio/Santa Fe CC) but the throw eluded second baseman Justin McDonald allowing
Brad Jackson (Havana, Fla./North Florida CC) to score from third.
The Hurricanes pushed across the game's first run in the top of the second on Justin McDonald's RBI double down the left field line. Josh McDonald drove in the game winner in the third with a base hit to right, plating Mobley who had doubled earlier in the inning.
Josh McDonald went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Patrick McCarthy collected a pair of singles and scored a run for Georgia Southwestern.
King singled and doubled for Flagler.
Austin Donmoyer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area HS) (2-2) tossed six complete innings, scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs.

In the second game, Perdue retired the last 13 hitters in order and only tossed 69 pitches in the entire game. He only allowed two Flagler base runners to reach second base, the last coming in the third inning.
Nick Rex led off the game for Georgia Southwestern (14-14) with a solid base hit to left. He stole second and the moved to third on a ground out. He scored on a wild pitch by Flagler pitcher
Brad Jackson to give the Hurricanes an early 1-0 lead.
In the fourth, Mobley led off with a ground out to short, but the throw to first was muffed and reached on an error by the Flagler first baseman. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and took third on a ground out. He would score on Clayton Trenary's single to left.
Only three players had hits for Georgia Southwestern, all singles.
Jackson (2-2) took the loss after throwing a complete game, three-hitter. He allowed just one earned run and struck out a season-high nine batters.
Randy Miller (Jacksonville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) extended his hit streak to nine games with a 2-for-3 effort for Flagler (16-11). He singled and doubled in the second game.
Jorge Marquez (Caracas, Venezuela/North Iowa Area CC) doubled in the game.
Flagler College hosts No. 23 (NAIA) Ohio Dominican University of Columbus tomorrow (Mar. 12) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Stadium. The game will be a single 9-inning game.
