Flagler College Athletics

Aniss Rafiq of the men's tennis team was selected as Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 17.

The Annemasse, France native helped led Flagler to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region No. 2 title as he won both of his singles and doubles matches. He teamed with Oliver Hradilek to defeat the Lander tandem 6-2 and then defeated Max Barriere at No. 2 singles 6-1 and 6-4 in a 4-0 win. In the second round, he and Hradilek blanked Columbus State/s duo 6-0 and Rafiq then topped No. 34-ranked Hugo Didier 6-4 and 6-2 as the Saints avenged two of its losses earlier in the season to the Cougars. 

Rafiq is currently ranked No. 35 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. This spring, he holds a 12-9 record in singles and 15-7 in doubles.
