Williesha Spencer of the women's basketball team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the period ending March 2.
This is the fifth time this year Spencer has been selected as the athlete of the week.
"Shorty" Spencer scored a game-high 32 points in the regular season finale at Georgia Regents University Augusta on Saturday. In so doing, she broke the school's single-season scoring record (previously held by Tara Teague in the 1997-98 season with 514 points) as well as becoming the fifth Flagler women's basketball player to surpass the 1,000-point milestone. Her basket with 25 seconds left gave Flagler enough breathing room to escape with a 72-69 win.
Spencer leads the team with a 21.8 points per game average. She has scored 544 points this season. Spencer ranks third in the PBC in points per game, points scored, free throws, free throw percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, is fourth in field goals made and fifth in assists. Â
