Derrick Ellis, Jr. of the men's basketball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 2.

Ellis poured in a season-high 19 points, 17 of which came in the second half, in Flagler College's 93-84 win over Young Harris College on Dec. 20. He dished out a season-high eight assists and tied his career high with four steals.

For the season, Ellis is averaging 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.
