Flagler College Athletics

Kyra Gipson of the softball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending March 8.

Gipson tossed 14 innings last week and did not allow a run while scattering nine hits to help Flagler to a perfect 4-0 week. The Sorrento, Florida native struck out eight batters and held the opposition to a .191 batting average.

In a 3-0 victory against Hillsdale College, Gipson scattered seven hits and induced 13 fly outs along with three groundouts. She tossed a two-hit shutout in the Peach Belt Conference opener against USC Aiken. Gipson fanned six and retired 12 batters on fly outs and three more on ground outs.

For the season, Gipson is 11-3 with a 1.00 earned run average. She has four shutouts and has held the opponents to a .195 batting average.
