Johnny Gaines of the baseball team was selected as the Flagler College Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 2.

Gaines made two appearances during the week and collected a complete game victory on Sunday vs. 19th-ranked North Georgia. He posted a 0.82 earned run average with 12 strike outs in 11 innnigs.

In the game Sunday vs. North Georgia, he tossed all 10 innings, allowed just five hits, one run and struck out a season-high 10 batters to help Flagler to a 2-1, 10-inning win.

For the season, Gaines is 8-5 with a 4.35 ERA and a staff-best 75 strike outs.
