John Sgromolo of the baseball team has been selected as the Student-Athlete of the Month sponsored by Courtyard and Fairfield Inn Suites by Marriott St. Augustine for the month of March. He was selected as the Flagler Student-Athlete of the week for the period ending Mar. 21.
For the month, Sgromolo held a team-high batting average of .437 and also led the team with 31 hits, four home runs, 17 runs batted in and 23 runs scored. He had a .662 slugging percentage and a .488 on-base percentage. Sgromolo hit safely in all but one of the 17 games he played in and had a team-best 18-game hitting streak.
Currently, Sgromolo is batting .374 with 43 hits, five doubles, four homers, 20 RBI and 27 runs scored. He is ranked No. 14 in the Peach Belt Conference in batting average.
