LAKELAND, Fla. – Facing their second straight United Soccer Coaches Top 25 opponent, the No. 24 Flagler College men's soccer team (3-1-4 overall, 3-0-1 PBC) dropped a physical 4-1 decision at No. 19 Florida Southern (7-1 overall, 2-0 SSC) on Wednesday night.

TURNING POINT
After a slow start out of the gate for both offenses, Florida Southern found a rhythm over the final 11 minutes of the first half, netting three goals during that span. In the 34
th minute, the Mocs cashed in off a throw in as Darcy Moffat sent a deep cross to the back post and found a leaping Ollie Stephens for the 1-0 goal.
Just 10 minutes later, Florida Southern extended their lead as the Mocs goalkeeper Ricardo Marques sent a deep ball past the Saints backline and found Darcy Moffat in stride. With Flagler goalkeeper
Trevor Senzon closing in, Moffat sent a cross through the box and found Baierlein in stride to put away the second goal of the first half.
Florida Southern wasn't finished, however, cracking the scoring column again just 15 seconds later. The Mocs remained on the attack and Max Muth sent a pass to Hector Oliver at the top of the box. Muth made one move to his right before sending a bender to the top right corner of the net and giving the Mocs a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
Flagler cut into the deficit in the 73
rd minute as
Filip Hornburg sent a free kick towards the box. After the initial header was sent away, freshman
Fanele Mbangwa sent a cross into the box and found the head of
John McGarry, who passed it over to
Daniel Becerra at the back post to cut the deficit to 3-1.
However, Florida Southern added an insurance goal in the 84
th minute, capitalizing on a high Saints backline. James Forbes sent a deep ball across midfield and found Darcy Moffat who had a 1-on-1 with the Saints goalkeeper. Moffat made a move right and slid home his first goal of the game and sealed the 4-1 victory.
