AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has announced its men's soccer weekly honors on Monday afternoon, and Flagler defender Filip Hornburg was named the PBC Defensive Player of the Week.

"Filip is a special player for us both on the ball and off the ball," said Flagler head men's soccer coach Thomas Coombes. "As a defender, he reads the game very well and takes pride in being better than his opponent. On the ball, I'm delighted he was able to step up in the big moments for us and show his quality with a pair of goals."

Hornburg started both matches on the Saints backline and helped the squad turn in a 1-0-1 week. In the midweek match against USC Aiken, the Oslo Norway native netted his first goal of the season in a 90-minute performance that resulted in a 2-1 win. Hornburg toed up a penalty kick in the third minute to give the visiting Saints an early lead on the road. In the weekend cap against No. 2 North Georgia, the sophomore struck again, netting the first goal of the game for the Saints. The North Georgia attack generated three goals, but Hornburg and the Saints defense held on to earn a draw against the nationally-ranked Nighthawks.
 
Hornburg became the second straight Saints player to earn PBC weekly honors after Ryan Rivas was named Goalkeeper of the Week last week.
 
Flagler returns to action on Wednesday, September 23^rd for a non-conference test at Florida Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from Behrend Field and the match will be broadcast on the Sunshine State Conference Sports Network. Following the midweek action, Flagler will return to Saints Field and welcome Lander for a 3:00 p.m. match. The match will be broadcast on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
