ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored four unearned runs in the eighth inning to break a 2-all tie and defeat Georgia College & State University 6-2 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Thursday night at Drysdale Field.
Flagler extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 24-11 overall and 11-8 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College lost its third game in a row and dropped to 13-20 overall and 8-11 in conference play. The same two teams meet tomorrow at 5 p.m.
Cael Reish belted a two-run home run to left field in the fifth inning to put the Saints on the board first. He finished 2-for-4 with three runs batted in.
The Bobcats tied the game with a pair of unearned runs in the seventh.
Three GCSU errors keyed the four-run uprising by Flagler in the eighth.
Eli Maddox's squeeze bunt helped score the go-ahead run. Maddox reached first as the Bobcat first baseman dropped the ball.
CJ Hanson (5-2) allowed two runs, both unearned, on five hits over eight innings of work to get the win. He struck out four batters.
Parker Adams pitched the ninth.
Tripp Davis went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and he scored two runs for Flagler.
Keaton Prior (2-6) went the distance and surrendered six runs, two of which were earned, on five hits. He struck out five batters.
Evan Cowand led the Bobcats going 2-for-5 with a double.
Cole Huddleston hit a double and scored a run.
