Five Saints earn conference honors

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Flagler College men's tennis team pulled in three First-Team and two Second_Team All-Peach Belt Conference selections, released on last week by conference officials.

The Saints tied Columbus State University in most players awarded first team recognition, with two. Overall, the Saints tallied five which is the most of any institution. This is the second time in three years Flagler has featured five different Saints.

The lone Saints to take home first team in doubles was Aly El Rafie and Noah Paterson. In conference, the court one duo went 3-1. Their two notable win came against 2026 second team doubles, Juan Cruz Blanco and Ben Brandl of University of North Georgia, 6-4.

Landing on the first team in singles was Aniss Rafiq and Ilian Borlee. Borlee amassed a 4-2 record in conference and 24-4 overall. Playing predominantly at court three, Borlee went a perfect 9-0 and while at court two, 6-2. Against nationally ranked opponents, Borlee was 2-1, defeating No. 50 Eduardo Cohen of Saint Leo University, 1-6, 7-6(7-2) and 6-2. Agaisnt Washburn University, Borlee defeated No. 23 Kilian Martinez 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(10-6). Aniss Rafiq played predominately at court one. Rafiq amassed nine wins through the season, with one of them being at court two. Defeating two top-15 opponents, Rafiq upset No. 6 Soeren Grandke of Azusa Pacific University 6-2, 6-7(4-7) and 7-5 and No. 11 Pavlos Parson of Washburn 6-4 and 6-0.

The second team saw Simon Malis and El Rafie earn their spot. Currently ranked No. 19 in NCAA Division II, Malis boasts a 16-4 record in the spring. Seeing action on courts one through three, Malis defeated five ranked opponents. While on court one, Malis upset No. 8 Parson of Washburn 6-3 and 7-5. During conference play, Malis finished with a 5-1 record, all on court three. El Rafie was the only Saint to earn two awards this season. The Cairo, Egypt native boasts a perfect conference record while playing at court six. Currently No. 58, El Rafie defeated his only ranked opponent, Yuto Miyagawa of Washburn, 6-2, 3-6 and 1-0(10-8) on court five.
