Flagler women seeded No. 6 at regional

ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College women's golf team learned Sunday night that they are seeded No. 6 at the NCAA Division II South Regional, which will be played at the Cleveland Country Club at Cleveland, Tennessee, May 4-6.
 
Flagler is the defending regional champion and will be making its 12th appearance at the tournament.
 
Of the 18 teams at the regional, eight are from the Southeast Region. The other 10 are South Region teams. Wingate University and Anderson University of South Carolina are the top two seeds. Both have been at or near the top of the national rankings all year. Nova Southeastern University and Lynn University follow at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Lander University is the No. 5 seed. Barry University trails Flagler at No. 7 and the region host, Lee University, is No. 8. Making up the rest of the field are the University of Tampa (No. 9), the University of North Georgia (No. 10), Rollins College (No. 11), Saint Leo University (No. 12), Florida Southern College (No. 13), Eckerd College (No. 14), Lincoln Memorial University (No. 15), the University of West Florida (No. 16), Erskine College (No. 17), and Palm Beach Atlantic University (No. 18).

All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top five (central), four (south), four (east) and five (west) teams along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the championships. The championships will be held May 12-16 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 98.
