Flagler women ranked No. 17 in the nation and No. 3 in the region

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Flagler College women's tennis team is ranked No. 17 according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Coaches Poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. More importantly, the Saints are ranked No. 3 in the second of three NCAA Division II region rankings.  

Flagler is currently 14-9 overall and finished the Peach Belt Conference slate with a 6-1 record. The Saints open the conference tournament with a quarterfinal match against Augusta University on Friday at noon at Columbus, Georgia.

In the region ranking, which helps set the tournament field, Catawba College leads the Southeast Region with a 20-1 overall record and an 18-1 mark against in-region opponents. Columbus State University (14-4, 13-4) follows at No. 2. The University of North Georgia (15-6, 12-6) is behind Flagler at No. 4. Lenoir-Rhyne University (15-3, 15-3) rounds out the top five.

There are four PBC teams, including Flagler, that are ranked in the ITA top 50. Columbus State University is No. 9 while the University of North Georgia is ranked No. 13. Middle Georgia State University is ranked No. 37.   

Elena Ondobo checks in at No. 15 in the singles rankings. She holds a 30-6 record this season and is 17-4 in the spring. Eryka Kruk is ranked No. 23. She is 27-10 this year and is 15-7 in the spring.

Barry University sits atop the national ranking. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University follows at No. 2 while the University of West Florida (No. 3), the University of West Alabama (No. 4), Nova Southeastern University (No. 5) round out the top five.
