Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

No. 16 Saints take home the doubleheader on Senior Day

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 16 Flagler College women's tennis team swept their doubleheader, 6-0, against Georgia Southwestern University and Edward Waters University this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.

With these wins, Flagler moved up to 13-9 and 5-1 in conference. Georgia Southwestern fell to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in conference while Edward Waters dropped to 8-14. Flagler will host their final regular season match of the season against No. 33 Middle Georgia State University on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Doubles was a hot start for both matches. Against the Hurricanes, Lea Jakic and Eryka Kruk swept Luiza Rodrigues and Luana Borini, 6-0. Following court two was court three's Sofia Balsera and Leah Waechter who defeated Natalia Paiva and Emmarae Smith, 6-2.

Singles play saw two Saints sweep their opponents in both sets. Starting off was Balsera over Mabry Bowron, followed by Ornella Lomenzo over Emmarae Smith. To clinch the match, No. 13 Elena Ondobo took set won 6-2 over Mariana Sorrilha before Sorriha retired. Ondobo was up 2-0 before the retirement. After the clinch, Jakic defeated Paiva 6-0 and 6-1. Court one wrapped up with No. 19 Kruk defeating Rodrigues 6-1 and 6-3. The final win came from Marie Fairier who took her match against Borini in two 6-2 sets.

The Saints versus Pride match finished in similar fashion. All courts played to completion with Fairier and Lomenzo starting off with the first doubles win. The new pair swept Lara Viehrig and Daniela Iduriaga 6-0. Both courts one and two defeated their opponents 6-2. Kruk and Jakic defeated Aalisha Alexis and Alexis Dunlap while Waechter and Balsera defeated Sofia Lopez and Adassah Prevost.

After the conclusion of doubles, the match took a brief intermission to celebrate the career of Eryka Kruk. Kruk is the lone Saint in the 2026 graduating class and has been a member of the program for the past four years.

After the ceremony, three Saints erupted, sweeping their opponents to get an early clinch. Kruk took the first 6-0 sweeps over Alexis. Waechter stepped in at singles to sweep Iguriaga, followed by Jakic over Prevost. Lomenzo took set 6-1 over Viehrig then finished with a sweep, while Fairier took set one 6-2 over Dunlap then followed it up with a 6-0 sweep. The final win came from Ondobo over Lope, 6-0 and 6-1.
