ST. AUGUSTINE – Sydney Garrett (7-8) tossed a complete six-hitter and the offense collected 14 hits to lead Georgia College & State University to a 13-5 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference softball game Thursday night at Flagler Field.
Flagler fell to 10-22 overall and 6-7 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College is now 15-14 overall and 7-6 in conference play. The Saints will face Georgia College again in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
The Saints got on the board in the first inning on
Kiley McQuillan's three-run homer.
They pushed across one run in the fourth, with a single up the middle by
Ryleigh Hall to score McQuillan and tried to rally back in the seventh with a single by Hall, who later advanced to third by
Olivia Burns single with a throwing error.
Emily Ricci scored Hall with an RBI ground ball to second.
The Bobcats scored two runs in the second and added one in the third to tie it up 3-3. They widened their lead scoring five in the fourth, one in the sixth, and four in the seventh to end the game, 13-5.
Karlie Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in, and one run scored. Emily Hobbs went 2-for-4 with a home run, had two RBI, and three runs scored. Sydney Lancaster went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Riley Rowe (6-11) allowed six runs from seven hits in 3.1 innings to get the loss.
Ava Matthews finished the game with 3.2 innings. She gave up seven runs on seven hits.
McQuillan went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Hall collected two singles, scored a run and brought another runner in. Burns had two singles.
