Box Score HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Madison Murphy (10-5) tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the University of South Carolina Beaufort to a 10-0 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference softball game Friday night at the Richard Gray Sports Complex.
Flagler fell to 9-20 overall and 5-5 in the Peach Belt. USC Beaufort is now 19-13 overall and 3-7 in conference play. The Saints will face USC Beaufort again in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
The Sand Sharks pushed across five runs in the first, four of which were unearned. They then added five more runs in the fourth to expand their lead.
Murphy retired the last 11 batters in a row and faced just three batters over the minimum.
Caleigh Eubanks went 1-for-1 with three runs batted in and one run scored. Taelor Chang went 2-for-3 with a double and single with one RBI and one run scored. Catharine Conway went 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs scored.
Riley Rowe (5-10) allowed five runs with one being earned while scattering four hits in two-thirds of an inning to get the loss.
Alyssa Hunter finished the game with 3.1 innings. Four of the five runs were earned on six hits. She produced five flyouts and four groundouts.
Annake Meadows got the Saints only hit of the game in the top of the second inning.
