DAHLONEGA, Ga. – No. 11 (ABCA Division II Top 30) University of North Georgia scored 11 runs in the last two innings to defeat Flagler College 12-1 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.
North Georgia improved to 25-7 overall and 16-2 in conference play. Flagler dropped to 18-11 overall and 7-8 in the Peach Belt. Flagler plays host to Florida Tech this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
The Nighthawks scored four runs in the fifth inning and erupted for seven more in the sixth to get the win in seven innings.
North Georgia scored all of its runs in the fourth with two outs. Ben Hamacher hit a two-run single to give the Nighthawks a 3-0 lead. The other two runs came on a bases loaded walk and a bases loaded hit by pitch.
Cam Hodge belted a grand slam in UNG's seven-run sixth.
Andrew Duval (6-0) scattered three hits and allowed one run in seven innings to remain perfect on the season. He struck out six.
Brady Skipper collected two singles, scored three runs, and had one run batted in for North Georgia. JD Coleman hit two singles and scored a run.
Aaron Zenus (1-1) took the loss on the hill for the Saints. He allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits.
Logan Brown,
Drew Rosenberg, and
Evan Scott all pitched in relief.
George Gilson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
AJ Hunerberg got the first hit for the Saints, a double, in the fourth inning.
Holden Bradshaw added a single.
