ST. AUGUSTINE –
Jessica Dowdy scored a team-high 20 points as Flagler College lost its regular season finale to Georgia College & State University 71-63 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Before the game the Saints honored their seniors – Dowdy,
Carleigh Grimm,
Natalie Herrin, and
Marley Smith, along with support staff members
Laney Noreika and Jordan Canales.
Flagler concluded its season with an 11-17 overall record and a 6-14 mark in the Peach Belt. Georgia College improved to 12-16 overall and 8-12 in conference play. The Bobcats are in a tie for sixth place and will advance to the conference tournament.
Georgia College opened the game on a 10-3 run and never looked back. They led 22-16 after the first quarter and then out-scored the Saints 24-14 in the second quarter to take a commanding 46-30 lead into the half.
The Saints were able to pull to within seven points, but could not get any closer.
Gabby Bush added 13 points for Flagler. Grimm finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Smith contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.
Deshona Gaither scored a game high 24 points for the Bobcats. Natalia Bolden added 18 points and seven rebounds while Caroline Beavin tacked on 10 points.
